Junior Costing Assistant

Job Description

Our client, a major supplier in the contracting industry, has an immediate full-time opening for a Junior Costing Assistant to join their wonderful team! The company has more than 40 branches across Canada and the Pacific Northwest and is known for its quality products, excellent service, and a network of supply partners that are Best in Class.

The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented (you are dealing with multiple locations in both Canada and the US) with fast, accurate data entry skills and advanced proficiency with Excel. You will have at least 3 years of experience in inventory costing from an ERP / MS Office 365 environment, preferably from a multi-branch company, as well as solid accounts payable experience.

They have a supportive team atmosphere with plenty of career growth opportunities! This role will have a hybrid working arrangement after the first 3 months with the option to work up to 3 days from home per week. This role has an early start that is flexible between 6:00 am and 7:30 am (the whole team starts early as they are dealing with east coast operations), and a paid breakfast and lunch break is included in these hours. This is a Monday to Friday position with a 40-hour work week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Match supplier invoices with Purchase Orders (POs) and processing for costing on a timely basis
  • Verify quantities, pricing, and special pricing programs including Buys and Rebates
  • Adjust invoices for price and/or quantity variances
  • Allocate freight and duty/brokerage costs
  • Process inter-company stock transfers
  • Analyze and respond to costing requirements of the billing administrators

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years costing experience in a multi-branch and multi-currency environment
  • Experience working with vendors
  • Knowledge of accounts payable cycle required
  • Proficiency in Excel and Office 365
  • Excellent communication in English, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working in high volume/transaction environment
  • Detail oriented
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Be reliable and a team player
