Full-Cycle Bookkeeper (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Job Description

Salary: $30–$35/hour (based on experience)We’re hiring a Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to cover a 1-year maternity leave for two medium-sized construction companies. This is a hands-on role responsible for all aspects of accounting. There is potential for part-time work after the contract ends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll (approx. 22 employees, including union staff)
  • Prepare and remit GST, PST, source deductions, WCB, EHT, and union dues
  • Handle AP/AR, EFT payments, wire transfers, Visa payments, and reconciliations
  • Maintain bank and Visa reconciliations; manage holdbacks and year-end prep
  • Support job costing, invoicing, and AR collections
  • Oversee a junior bookkeeper’s AP/AR entries and Visa postings
  • Manage benefits, RRSP contributions, license renewals, and basic HR admin

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Diploma in Accounting (or related field)
  • Proficient in Sage and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Construction industry experience is a strong asset
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
