Job Description
Our prominent client in the manufacturing sector is seeking a Corporate Controller to oversee and streamline their financial operations. This individual contributor role is central to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, consolidating financial data across three entities, and maintaining compliance with Canadian and US regulations. Reporting directly to the parent company in France, the Corporate Controller plays a vital role in supporting strategic decision-making and improving accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, ensure GAAP/IFRS compliance, and manage financial close processes, including journal entries and trial balances.
- Deliver accurate financial reports to the corporate head office, provide variance analysis, and address reporting queries.
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and support semi-annual bank exams with detailed working papers.
- Oversee general ledger management, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to financial regulations in Canada and the US.
- Manage tax filings, collaborate with auditors, and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting and forecasting, while identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred).
- A minimum of ten years’ expertise in progressive accounting, encompassing consolidations of many entities.
- Knowledge of US and Canadian financial reporting standards, tax laws, and GAAP/IFRS.
- Skilled in complex Excel and accounting applications.
- It is a great advantage to have experience with foreign financial reporting, especially to parent firms in Europe.
