Job Description

Our client is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant/Analyst to join their dynamic team at their project site in Delta, BC. Reporting to the Divisional Operations Controller and working closely with the Operations and Finance teams, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of multiple projects from start to finish.

Owning a vehicle and a valid BC driver’s license is essential for this role, as travel between the Delta job site and the Burnaby head office will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial aspects of one or more projects, providing essential support to Project Managers and their teams.
  • Implement internal controls, process improvements, and training to ensure accurate job costing and financial management on-site.
  • Collect, analyze, and provide recommendations on data to help projects stay on schedule and achieve their goals.
  • Process vendor invoices within assigned timelines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and relevant financial reports to Project Managers, including budgets, cash flows, and forecasts.
  • Assist with business license, bonding, and insurance requirements, ensuring all estimates and forecasts are accurately integrated into accounting software.
  • Complete project reviews and profit recognition (WIP) monthly, meeting all deadlines.
  • Support auditors with project-related requests and assist in preparing budgets (BP) and forecasts (F1/F2/F3).
  • Prepare pre-billing reports for Project Manager review and monitor customer receivables to ensure proper billing support is in place.
  • Manage job cost accounting and reclass entries, while also providing backup support for administrative tasks when required.
  • Prepare financial statements, project reports, and other requested documentation, and manage equipment tasks, including recording meter readings and data entry.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Financial Management program or Junior CPA with strong business analytical skills.
  • On-site experience with managing schedules and proformas, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Proven ability to analyze productivities and perform on-site analysis for project optimization.
  • Expertise in Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project costing methodologies.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction accounting and job costing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of project accounting best practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding and stimulating work environment, while remaining highly organized in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must be willing to work both on job sites and at the head office.
