Payroll Lead – Hybrid

Job Description

Our Richmond client has been one of BC’s Top Employers for 14 years running and they are on the hunt for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Lead. This role is responsible for leading the payroll process in a unionized environment and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and collective agreement requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Timely and efficient delivery of payroll in accordance with all relevant policies and agreements
  • Oversee Payroll Administrators including ongoing mentorship, assigning work and scheduling
  • Point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issues, escalate complex problems as needed
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes and/or new payroll processes and policies
  • Lead year-end processes (tax forms)
  • Work with internal and external auditors, respond to CRA requests
  • Other duties to support payroll functions


  • At least 5 years of progressive payroll experience including benefits administration and union payroll experience
  • Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce and advanced Excel skills required, experience with UKG (Kronos) is an asset
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and effectively juggle competing priorities while working under pressure
