Job Description

This role is responsible for leading the payroll process in a unionized environment and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and collective agreement requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Timely and efficient delivery of payroll in accordance with all relevant policies and agreements
- Oversee Payroll Administrators including ongoing mentorship, assigning work and scheduling
- Point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issues, escalate complex problems as needed
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes and/or new payroll processes and policies
- Lead year-end processes (tax forms)
- Work with internal and external auditors, respond to CRA requests
- Other duties to support payroll functions
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of progressive payroll experience including benefits administration and union payroll experience
- Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification is highly desirable
- Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce and advanced Excel skills required, experience with UKG (Kronos) is an asset
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and effectively juggle competing priorities while working under pressure
